A New Breast Augmentation Option Is Arriving In Australia
Introducing Motiva SmoothSilk® Ergonomix2® implants and the Preservé™ surgical technique
Motiva SmoothSilk® Ergonomix2® implants are launching in Australia alongside Preservé™, a specialised breast augmentation technique using dedicated instruments and a different surgical approach. Register your interest to receive further information and be notified when consultations become available with Dr Marion Chan.
What is new?
The Australian launch brings together two related developments in breast augmentation:
The Preservé™ surgical technique
Preservé™ is a breast augmentation technique developed for use with Motiva SmoothSilk® Ergonomix2® implants.
It uses dedicated instruments and a specialised operative approach intended to preserve as much of the breast's existing anatomy and supporting tissues as reasonably possible during implant placement.
Motiva SmoothSilk® Ergonomix2® implants
Ergonomix2® is the newer generation of the Motiva Ergonomix® breast implant. It incorporates updated implant materials and mechanical properties designed to allow the implant to move and respond dynamically within the breast.
Ergonomix2® implants will provide another option for patients considering breast augmentation in Australia.
As with all breast implants, the most appropriate implant type, dimensions and volume will depend on your anatomy, preferences and surgical assessment.
How is this different from conventional breast augmentation?
Conventional breast augmentation usually involves creating a pocket for the implant using standard surgical dissection.
The Preservé™ technique uses dedicated instruments and a different method of preparing the implant pocket. Its surgical philosophy is centred on minimising unnecessary disruption of the breast's existing tissues and supporting structures.
However, Preservé™ remains a surgical procedure involving breast implants. It is not scarless, risk-free or suitable for every patient. Individual experiences, recovery and surgical outcomes will vary.
Is Preservé™ right for everyone?
No.
There is no single implant or surgical technique that is appropriate for every patient. Suitability may depend on factors including:
- your existing breast anatomy
- the amount and quality of your breast tissue
- your preferred implant size and appearance
- previous breast surgery
- breast asymmetry or breast ptosis
- your general health and medical history
- whether breast augmentation alone can reasonably address your concerns
Some patients may be better suited to a conventional breast augmentation technique. Others may require a breast lift, breast reduction, fat grafting or another surgical approach, either alone or in combination.
The appropriate options can only be determined following an individual consultation and physical examination.
What can be discussed during consultation?
During a consultation with Dr Marion Chan, you will be able to discuss:
- your reasons for considering breast augmentation
- your preferred size and overall aesthetic goals
- the differences between available implant options
- whether Ergonomix2® implants may be appropriate for you
- whether Preservé™ or a conventional technique may be more suitable
- implant position and proposed incision placement
- expected recovery and postoperative care
- the limitations and risks of breast implant surgery
- alternative surgical and non-surgical options
- fees and potential additional costs
You will be given the opportunity to ask questions and consider the information provided before making any decision about surgery.

Frequently asked questions
Is Ergonomix2® the same as the existing Motiva Ergonomix® implant?
Ergonomix2® is the newer generation of Motiva's Ergonomix® implant platform.
It incorporates updated implant technology and mechanical properties. The differences between available implants, and whether those differences are relevant to you, can be discussed during consultation.
Is Preservé™ an implant?
No.
Preservé™ is the name of the surgical technique. In Australia, the implant used with the technique is the Motiva SmoothSilk® Ergonomix2® implant.
Is Preservé™ less invasive?
Preservé™ has been developed as a tissue-preserving surgical approach using dedicated instruments and a different method of creating the implant pocket.
However, it is still an operation. It requires an incision, anaesthesia, implant placement and an appropriate recovery period.
Terms such as “less invasive” do not mean that the procedure is minor, free from discomfort or without risk.
Does it leave a smaller scar?
The Preservé™ technique generally leaves smaller scars compared to traditional breast augmentation techniques. The incision required will vary according to implant dimensions, your anatomy, the instruments used and your surgeon's clinical judgement.
No surgical incision is scarless. Scar length, appearance and healing vary between patients.
Will recovery be faster?
Recovery may be hastened with Preservé™ technique compared with traditional breast augmentation techniques, but each individual is unique and can have different experiences.
Recovery may also be influenced by the surgical technique, implant selection, your anatomy, your health, the nature of your work and how your body heals.
You will receive individual postoperative instructions if you proceed with surgery.
Will the result look more natural?
Words such as “natural” mean different things to different patients.
Implant selection and surgical planning are based on your anatomy, tissue characteristics and preferences. No particular appearance or outcome can be guaranteed.
Can Preservé™ correct sagging breasts?
Breast augmentation primarily adds volume. It does not necessarily correct significant breast ptosis or excess skin.
Some patients may require a breast lift rather than augmentation alone. In other cases, augmentation and a lift may be considered together or as staged procedures.
Are breast implants permanent?
Breast implants are not considered lifetime devices, and often require revision surgery later on in life, due to implant-related complications, changes in the breast, the ageing process, personal preference or implant replacement or removal.
What are the risks?
All surgery carries risks.
Risks associated with breast augmentation can include bleeding, infection, pain, altered nipple or breast sensation, scarring, asymmetry, implant malposition, capsular contracture, implant rupture, changes over time and the need for revision surgery.
There are also less common implant-associated conditions that will be discussed as part of the informed-consent process.
Your individual risks can only be assessed during consultation.
When will consultations open?
Consultations are expected to become available in August 2026.
Registering your interest allows our team to contact you when further information and consultation appointments become available.
Does registering mean I am booking surgery?
No.
Registering your interest does not reserve an operation date, confirm your suitability or create a doctor–patient relationship.
A formal consultation and clinical assessment are required before any treatment recommendation can be made.
